Donald E. Vines

Donald Edward Vines, age 74, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Calvin Community in Des Moines.

Donald was born December 6, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to Jerome Newell Vines and Maude Bernice (Ransom) Vines. He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines.

Donald graduated from Des Moines Technical High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Upper Iowa University. He worked in banking during his working years, most notably for Des Moines National Bank (Norwest). He was a member of Union Park Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, and was a part of the Mondamin Residential Neighborhood Association.

Donald was preceded in death by his father Jerome Vines, mother Maude Vines, grandfather Fred Ransom and grandmother Lydia Ransom. He is survived by his cousin, Judy Kinkade.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Union Park Presbyterian Church in memory of Donald. (1307 Thompson Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50316-2097)

Don and I kept in touch and sent each other Christmas cards yearly. I was so appreciative of him to attend my Mom's funeral. He will be truly missed.

I remember Don from the old neighborhood. It's been 55 years but I still wondered about him occasionally. Sorry to have lost contact.
