Joseph “Joey” Anthony Klein, 18, passed away May 13, 2022. Services will be held at Westkirk Presbyterian Church on 2700 Colby Woods Dr. in Urbandale, IA on Saturday, May 21, 2022. The family will receive guests starting at 10:00 AM, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 AM and a luncheon. Guests are welcome and encouraged to share memories during the luncheon.
Joey was born December 8, 2003 and adopted by Dean and Darla Klein. He stayed in their loving home from January 2005 until May 2018, and resided at the Beaverdale Child Serve Group Home at his passing. Joey loved watching the Vikings and the Hawkeyes, cooking shows, Steve Harvey, and Pixar’s Up. He loved home visits and video chatting with his family. Joey always looked forward to participating in the Special Olympics and the Miracle League and excelled at making friends with staff and nurses in his group home. Joey was always quick to give a friendly greeting to new faces and lit up any room he occupied, constantly bringing smiles and joy to those around him. Joey graduated from Hoover High School in May 2022. He loved interacting with fellow students and teachers.
Joey never allowed his physical limitations to stop him from living a full and rich life. One of Joey’s favorite Bible verses that he memorized was “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Phillipians 1:21). He is now in the presence of our gracious and loving God.
Joey is proceeded in death by his maternal grandmother, Virgina McGuire. He will be greatly missed by his parents, Dean and Darla Klein; his paternal grandparents, Alvin and Charlotte Klein, his paternal grandfather, Dan McGuire Sr.; and by his siblings, Luke and Monica Klein with children, Ezio and Opal, Logan and Leah Landrum with children, Kairi and Nova, Rachael Klein, Isaac Klein and his fiancée, Anita Corredor, Tirzah Klein, Asenath Klein, Kezia Klein, Marquis Klein, Zipporrah Klein, Christina Klein, Marianna Klein, and Saadiya Klein.

Joey lived at the Beaverdale home with my son Charlie. Joey would always greet me with a great big smile and a warm hello! He was always so friendly and loved to interact. It was a joy to see him as well when I would go and visit my son. He will be missed so much! My thoughts and prayers go out to all that was apart of this angels life! We are all blessed to have known him. Love and Prayers
