Doris Jean (Creveling) Potts

Doris Jean (Creveling) Potts, 95, passed away at her home May 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born July 8, 1926 in Decatur County, Iowa to Orville and Daisy (Zika) Creveling. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, Abe and Annie Creveling. On October 19, 1948, she married Robert Potts in Des Moines. Doris enjoyed reading, golfing, cooking and baking, gardening, water aerobics, and ceramics. She loved traveling to Hawaii, Branson and Arkansas. Doris enjoyed a frozen margarita from time to time. She loved attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities and was their #1 fan! Doris was an avid Iowa Hawkeye basketball fan and a Chicago Cubs fan – well, until they changed their roster! She was a long time member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church.

Doris is survived by her sons, Robert Jr. and Michael; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Freida Hiatt; brother, Joe Creveling; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; son, Patrick; brothers, Donald, Jack and Bruce Creveling; daughter-in-law, Debbie; and great-grandson, Nolan.

The family will greet friends Monday, May 16, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11 a.m. at Park Avenue Presbyterian Church, 3120 SW 9th Street. A time of fellowship will follow.
