Katherine Jean (Gamble) Bowersox
May 09, 2022
Katherine Jean (Gamble) Bowersox, of Grimes, Iowa, passed away suddenly, yet peacefully, on Monday, May 9, 2022 at her apartment in Grimes, Iowa.
Katherine was born on April 19, 1979 to Dan Gamble and Diana Lynn (Hermann) Gamble. Most people knew her as Kate and others knew her as Katherine. She was born and raised in Saylorville and lived and worked around the Des Moines Metropolitan Area over the years. Katherine was a dedicated and successful Nurse and Nurse Practitioner, helping others however she could.
She was known for always having a quick and confident response to most any statement or question. In addition, she was intelligent, driven, strong, opinionated, and an independent woman, just like her mother and grandmother.
A person of many qualities, Katherine was a Nurse just like her grandmother. She loved her work, travel (especially to the beach), golf, her beloved Vikings — and her greatest love of all, spending time with her sisters and friends. Kate is always smiling in her photos.
Surviving are her father, Dan Gamble; sisters Tracy (John) Ripperger and Kristin (Jim) Wilbanks; nephew Patrick Wilbanks; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Katherine was preceded in death by her mother, Diana Lynn (Hermann) Gamble, and grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that any memorial donations be directed to Heinz 57, Animal Rescue League (ARL), or any other animal rescue leagues.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

My deepest and most sincere condolences to Kate's family, Dan, Kris, and Tracy. May God give you the kind of peace and comfort that only He can. Kate spoke to me often of all of you. Kate was certainly one of a kind. I will miss her greatly, as we spoke nearly every day. She once told me I was her. " go- to person." She spoke to me about many things, but mostly about how much she loved being a nurse, and provider. She truly cared about her patients, and always did her best to go above and beyond for them. She will be greatly missed. My heart is sad.

I worked with Kate @ the Central Ia Shelter Clinic. She was a joy to work with and had great medical stories from her many exciting jobs. She did a great job working with patient's from all walks of life. She treated everyone with dignity, no matter where / what their story was. Kate will be greatly missed by all that had the opportunity to know her.
