Gerald Wells, 69, passed away at his home on October 29, 2009. He was born on March 15, 1940 to Irene and Gerald D. Wells in Pollock, Missouri. Funeral Services will be held at 9 a.m., Monday, November 2, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines, IA. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home.
Gerald enjoyed more than anything spending time with his family; he loved his grandchildren, and his dogs. He was also on the Des Moines Police Force for 30 years, retiring in 1997.
He is survived by his wife Kaye, sons; Matthew (Kim) Wells, Steve (Debbie) Wells, Jeff (Teresa) Wells, Scott (Rebecca) Wells, daughter; Suzy (Gary) Lane, sister; Jamie (Dwight) Futrelle, stepmother; Mary Wells, nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister-in-law; Susie Russell. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marilyn.

I remember going to the police station and talking to Sgt Wells many times. No matter what I was going through he always listened and offered his opinion. My thoughts and prayers are still with his family and friends. Rest in Peace Sgt Wells.
