Corinne Parker Morris

Corinne Parker Morris departed this life on May 9, 2022, at the age of 93. Corinne is survived by her daughter Marcia Morris Beck of Faribault MN along with nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert D. Morris, her son Timothy, her only sister Marilynn Pilling and her son-in-law Ken Beck.

She was born on February 18, 1927, in Carson Iowa to Nella (Gray) and Clarence Parker. She attended Simpson College in Indianola for teaching. There she met her husband Bob. They married in June of 1949. She balanced raising her two children, Marcia and Tim, with teaching and substitute teaching and then found a job that she genuinely enjoyed: managing the Merle Hay Record Shop. Working there blended her love of music and her ability to mentor and guide the many young people she employed.

She was a long-time member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Des Moines. While she was able she was active in the women’s club. She and her husband enjoyed family vacations, and spending time with friends and extended family. Corinne played the piano and over the years collected many ornamental pianos. A big part of Corinne’s life was following her active children. Sadly, Tim died at the young age of 26 from Crohn’s disease. He shared his mother’s love of music. Marcia has always been active in theater so Bob and Corinne tried to attend all her performances. In the later years of her life Corinne enjoyed spending time with her daughter Marcia.

Corinne lived most of her life in Des Moines and most recently lived in the loving care of Calvin Community.
