Rosemary ‘Rose’ Privitera, 91, passed away May 5, 2022. Visitation will be held Friday, May 13, 2022, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, IA with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
Rosemary was born December 12, 1930, in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Norma Damico. She worked for the Chicago Public Library for many years until falling in love with Theodore ‘Ted’ Privitera and eventually uniting in marriage on September 29, 1957. She and Ted resided in Chicago and moved to Elk Grove Village in the early ‘60s, where she began working for the Elk Grove Public Library and continued working there for 25 years. They were residents of Elk Grove Village for more than 3 decades owning 3 different homes in that span. Both eventually retired and moved to Las Vegas. She was an avid poker player and enjoyed Bingo and playing the slots. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Dina) Privitera; daughter, Diane Rankin; grandchildren, Paul (Katie) Privitera, Hope Brus, Ali Privitera, Caroline Rankin and Adrianna Northrup; and great-grandchild, Amelia Rosemary Privitera.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Carol Northrop; and her husband, Theodore ‘Ted’ Privitera.

Steve and family, We are saddened by your loss and we offer our deepest sympathy. We will miss her cheery smiles and waves as she continued to brighten up her home with flowers, etc. She was an asset to our community. Rest in peace Rose.
