Terry Thompson, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was born on March 26, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa. Terry married the love of his life, Darlene on June 26, 1976.
Terry was a jack of all trades who could fix about anything, he always kept himself busy with home projects. Terry took great pride in his work and was especially proud of his 1935 Dodge Coupe he restored. His work ethic and his natural mechanical ability showed.
In his free time, he also enjoyed travelling, hunting, fishing, and drawing. Terry loved to cook and was famously known as “The Grill Master” by others. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and will be greatly missed.
He is lovingly survived by his wife Fay, daughter Tara Thompson, granddaughter Allison Rodgers, uncle Chuck (Betty) Samo, brothers-in-law Ron (Cindy) Kutchen and Bob (Le) James, and sister-in-law Sue Thompson.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Mildred & Paul Thompson, son Chris Thompson, siblings Cindy Kutchen and Paul Thompson, Jr., parents-in-law Paul & Thelma James, and brothers-in-law Ray (Elle) James and Rich (Rose) James.
The family will greet friends from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2022 at Rising Sun Church of Christ, 6390 NE Rising Sun Dr., Pleasant Hill. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2022 also, at the church followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Fay, I am so sad to learn about Terry having cancer. He was such a kind and happy man. He was easy to talk to and I admired his independence. Prayers for you in the days to come (dental office)

Floyd met Terry years ago when Terry drew the plans for Floyds house. Many years later, Terry drew the plans for our home. We are so sorry to learn of his death and offer our sincere condolences to Fay and his family.

I first met Terry in Saint Paul, Mn at "Back to the Fifties" car event. We had many long talks later at the 5 and Dine evening cruise ins, Good Guys and Back to the Fifties. He was a great guy and I am proud to call him my Friend. So sorry for your loss!
