Service Details

Jimmy Wells’ big heart beat its last, as he passed away in his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was 56. Born in Fairmont, Minnesota to Daryl F. and Donna M. (Hoss) Wells, he grew up in Sioux City. Family sailing trips bred in him a sense of adventure and he became a lifelong explorer, rock hound and arrowhead hunter. He was a graduate of the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School.

Jim was a carpenter and cabinet maker in Bend, Oregon where his fearless nature often found him in the wilds. He later became a Survey Crew Chief working all over the United States. Wherever his travels took him, he would find a band in need of a drummer. He owned a cafe in Philipsburg, Montana, where locals enjoyed his famous pico. Jim settled down in Bondurant, Iowa where he married his love, Sue Clark.

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Sue and his sisters, Ann Mullen and Mary Uhl. His family requests that, in remembrance of him, you find someone to hug today.
