Kenneth Knierim, 87, went home to be with the Lord on October 29, 2009, after a long illness. He graduated from Barnum High School in 1939, served in the Navy during WWII, and was a retired semi-truck driver.
Kenneth is survived by his wife; Nettie Jane (Lee) Knierim, daughter; Constance Hammersley, three grand-daughters, two grandsons, several great grandchildren, several cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; William and Verna Knierim, sister; Carol Walters, his son; Kenneth Dale Jr., and two infant sons.
Funeral Services will be 2:30 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2009, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed toward the Hospice of Central Iowa, or the Animal Rescue League.
