Gerald L. Gonzalez

Gerald L. Gonzalez, 72, passed away April 27, 2022 at Mercy One in Des Moines, Iowa. A graveside service is planned at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO at a later date.

Gerald was born June 6, 1949 to Rufus and Helen Gonzalez in Garden City, Kansas. He served 25 years in the United States Army specializing in Psychological Operations. He later worked at the US Postal Service as a union representative.

Gerald was a fun- loving guy who enjoyed watching football (especially the Denver Broncos), black and white westerns, and taking nature walks. He cherished his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

He is survived by his partner of many years Song Gonzalez; his sons, Loren (Breanne) Gonzalez and David (Melissa) Gonzalez; six grandchildren, Brylee, Breahna, Benjamin, Brilon, Max and Leo; nephew, Shawn Lucero and niece, Selena Shank.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Lucero, brother, Tony Gonzalez and infant grandson, Loren Gonzalez, Jr.
