Wayne Eldon Nichols

Wayne Nichols, 95, passed away on April 25, 2022, at Pine Acres in West Des Moines. He was born in State Center, Iowa on August 2, 1926, to Oscar and Ethel Nichols.

Wayne was one of eleven children. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Iowa. Wayne married the love of his life, Thelma Partridge on September 23, 1945, and together they raised four children. In 1974, Wayne founded Nichols Controls and Supply. He spent his career in the HVAC business.

Wayne was a huge Iowa State Cyclones fan, loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed the outdoors.

Wayne is survived by his children, Richard (Paula) Nichols, Ronald (Bettye) Nichols, Eldon (Patty) Nichols, and Mary (Paul) Hendricksen; 8 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; brother, Danny Nichols; and sister, Norma (Fran) Melson. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma; 3 sisters; and 5 brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.
