Cynthia Jo Nelson
April 26, 2022
Cindy passed away on April 26, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. She was 67 years old.
Cindy was born on August 18, 1954, to William and Marjorie (Ervine) Caudill. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of '72. She had many classmates who remained friends during her entire life. Cindy spent most of her career between 2 jobs, Mid Iowa Computer Center (22 years) and in the litigation claims department of Nationwide Insurance, 22 years. Like high school, she made many long-lasting friendships.
In addition to her friends, she left behind a close and loving family, consisting of her loving husband Robert of 35 years. Between them, they raised three children and cherished time spent with their 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren all of Des Moines; daughter Angela Beeler (Tony Siemer and children Jordyn and Will); son Richard Nelson (children: Olivia and Dakota); son Steven Nelson (Tammy Nelson and children: Samantha (Chole), Kaci and Megan (Addalynn).
Cindy was the middle child of six siblings; Greg Caudill (spouse: Pat, children: Sarah Schieffer, Katie LaRue (their husbands and children) all of Des Moines; Susan Green (Jon Ewing) from Daytona Beach, FL (children: Shelly Green-Burnett and Lisa Westerman and their children all of Des Moines); Mark Caudill (spouse: Kathy) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Tom Caudill of Des Moines; and Sheryl Fuson (spouse: Todd of Indianola; and their children Coleton Fuson and Alex Fuson) of Des Moines.
Other family members who will also miss Cindy are her sister-in-law Mary Stamper of Des Moines and her brother-in-law Jim Nelson.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and her big brother Greg and his spouse Pat.
Cindy loved reading murder mysteries, watching her favorite soap, Young and Restless, and her favorite new show, Yellowstone. In the summer, she spent as many days as possible in the swimming pool with her grandchildren. She created special memories in all her grandchildren's lives. She cherished all the little moments' life had to offer. Her quick wit, sarcasm, and wonderful sense of humor will never be forgotten. Everyone who knew Cindy loved her. She will be forever missed by so many.
Visitation is planned for Monday, May 2, 2022, from 4-7 pm at Hamilton's Funeral Home 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50309.

I am so sorry to hear of Cindy's passing. She was my best friend in grade school and early junior high and some of my very best memories star Cindy (sleepovers, go-go boots, Beatle haircuts, matching outfits... the list is long). Sending comforting thoughts to the family... your Cindy was lovely and loved.

It is with great sadness that my younger sister is no long with us, she has always been a part of my life only a year younger, and will be forever in my heart and memories. We sure shared some great times together growing up. Love and miss you Cindy, forever your older brother Mark.
I will always remember how Cindy always considered me a sister and a friend for the past 40+ years. We have several memories together and many laughs. Mark and I were blessed to talk with her a day before she made the journey to Heaven. We shared our love, a laugh and will forever be blessed to have that final conversation with her until we meet once again some day. Love and miss you Cindy aka "sista" Kathy.
