Jeanette Ann (Forst) Nolte, 84, of Des Moines, passed away Easter Sunday, April 17th, 2022, at her home. Jeanette was born in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, on June 1, 1937, to Vencil and Mildred (Mara) Forst. Jeanette was the oldest of seven children and thus was the first of a third generation on the family dairy farm. She attended school in Prairie du Chien, graduating in the class of 1955. Jeanette married Harmon Nolte on February 20, 1960, and moved to their home in Des Moines, where together they had three sons. She worked twenty plus years at Maurices Distribution Center until retiring.

Jeanette was a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and faith was an integral part of her daily life. She played the accordion and was the only one of her six siblings to learn a musical instrument. Jeanette loved cooking for others, especially baking cookies. Her grandchildren enjoyed raiding her freezer and were never disappointed, since she often had several varieties available. Jeanette was also an avid vegetable gardener and created several beautiful flower beds in her yard. She enjoyed traveling, whether camping or a bus trip to various parts of the country with family or friends. Most of all, Jeanette enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jeanette is survived by her sons, Marvin Nolte of Des Moines and Paul (Debbie) Nolte of Carlisle; three grandsons, Jason Nolte of Hartford, Jeremy (Jen) Nolte of Des Moines and Josh (Julia) Nolte of West Des Moines; two granddaughters, Valerie Goodhue-Nolte of Carlisle and Ashton Goodhue-Nolte of Des Moines; five great grandchildren, Madison, Allyson, Carson, Jaxson and Jameson Nolte; sisters, Betty (Roger) Kuehl, Alma Bockenstedt and Carol Becwar; brother, Johnny Forst; brother in law, Eddie Linder; sister in law, Nila Daugherty; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vencil and Mildred Forst; husband, Harmon who died June 29, 1999; son, John who died November 6, 2021; sisters, Mary Linder and Theresa Marso; brothers in law, Dale Marso, Hank Bockenstedt and Dale Becwar.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road, Des Moines. There will be a luncheon following the service at the church. Burial will take place at Avon Cemetery.
