Joseph Naples
April 18, 2022
Joe Naples of Des Moines passed away on April 18, surrounded by his loved ones. He fought a two-year battle with serious health issues.
Joe was born to Anthony and Lois Naples in Des Moines. A life-long resident, he attended Lincoln High School. For 34 years, Joe worked at Lumberman’s Wholesale. He worked hard and could build or fix just about anything.
He was married to the love of his life, Jo Ann, for 46 years, and they had one child, Jeff, of which he was exceptionally proud. He adored his granddaughter, who was the highlight of each day. He loved to spoil her.
Joe and Jo Ann were always together and shared a wonderful marriage full of camping, road trips, warm weather vacations, meeting friends, and attending the Knoxville Nationals or classic car shows.
No one who met Joe forgot his generosity or how much he loved his family, friends, and classic cars. He was a good provider and involved father figure; a true friend and a trustworthy neighbor—always there to help. Joe was witty and a jokester. His sense of humor always made people smile.
Joe was predeceased by his parents and his brother Barry. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann, his son, Jeff (Lacy), and his granddaughter, Gemma; in addition to sisters Becky Connell (Gary), Debbie Sloan (Charlie), and Jennifer Petty (Roy), and brother Tony (Pam), sister-in-law, Shirley, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Services will be held at St. Anthony’s on Monday, April 25, at 10:30 am. Joe’s favorite flowers were yellow roses, which is fitting because they symbolize joy, cheer, and friendship. Joe was a friend to many and was dearly loved. He will be missed.

Jo Ann & family: Our thoughts & prayers are with you at this time of losing Joe.
Thanks for sharing him with us. We were in the same class at Lincoln HS & at the same Car Events in recent years. He will be greatly missed as was obvious by the huge crowd of fans that came to his visitation. Enjoy the pleasant memories. May God comfort you now & in the future.

What a great guy you all had. I loved running into him and Joann at coney Island or hyvee. I have memories of Joe just because I was hanging out with Becky many. years ago. Becky and I still remain close friends to this day.
I remember when Joann was hoping for a diamond ring and that is what he got for her. A DIME and a ring like a dishwashers rubber ring. At first I laughed then I felt bad for Joann. I didn't know her that well back then. He always made me laugh. He will be missed by hundreds of people if not more. You couldn't help but like this guy. He did a great job watching over Becky.

JoAnn and Jeff ,
My heart is heavy hearing of Joe passing.
He suffered for sometime and is finally without pain.
I've known Joe seems like my entire adult life.
Watched his love of his family always , always come first.
Yes , Joe was a generous , kind and loyal employee of LW.
A vital part of the "Limbermans Family".
I remember laughing at company picnics.
Afternoons at FDSM Little League and he never , ever missed supporting Jeff in anything that young man chose to do.
JoAnn , where there was Joe there was you. Always by one another's side.
I know he cherished his granddaughter more than life itself.
Be sure and help her remember the good man her grandpa was to so many.
May you all find strength in GODS LOVE. ❤❤❤
