Alan Dale Kniesly, age 66, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022
Alan was born July 4, 1955 in Geneva, Illinois to Mary (Gemko) Wagner and Robert Kniesly. He moved to Iowa in the 1990s. Alan was the owner of Thrift Appliance for over 20 years. He also owned a car lot in Bedford, Indiana. Alan enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR. He loved eating snacks, Diet Mountain Dew, cigarettes, and getting his “paperwork” done. He was incredibly proud of his LTZ Chevy pickup. In his free time you could find him watching television, especially CSI.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Wagner; wife, Ginger Kniesly; son, Joshua Kniesly; stepdaughter, Wendy Cole; granddaughter, Julie Ann Kniesly; niece, Tabitha Andersen; brothers, Dan, Cliff, and Shawn Kniesly; and many other loving family members and friends.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, Robert Kniesly; brothers, Paul and Scott Kniesly; and his sister, Erica Kniesly.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery after the services.
