Nelson Kari

Nelson John Kari, age 69, passed away peacefully while under the care of EveryStep Hospice on Friday, April 15, 2022 with his wife by his side.

Nelson was born May 24, 1952 in Dixon, Illinois to Nels and Josephine (Kweder) Kari. He has been a resident of the Des Moines, Iowa area for the past two years, previously living in Fort Dodge, IA, Dubuque, IA, and Mayville, WI. Nelson worked as an HVAC Technician for most of his career. He became an ordained pastor in 2011 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Liberty University in Religious Studies in 2020.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy (Goodwin) Kari; children, Laurel Scudder (Bryan Hill), Alex Kari, Ashley Weems (Jason); granddaughters, Cordelia Hill, Kinsley Weems and Everlie Weems.

Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Josephine Kari.

According to Nelson’s wishes, cremation will occur and there will be no formal services held at this time.

I've only know Nelson & Wendy since they became my neighbor's 2 yrs.ago. I will miss Nelson setting on his porch always yelling over at me asking me how I was doing. He was one of the best neighbor a person could ask for. Concerned about everyone while he him self was suffering. Never complaining when I would ask how he was doing. I will miss you Nelson! Rest in peace my dear neighbor💓 Scott, Diane, & I will watch over your beautiful wife.
