Richard Talley

Richard Dean Talley, age 89, passed away peacefully at Altoona Nursing and Rehab on Friday, April 15, 2022.
He was born February 14, 1933 in Des Moines, Iowa to Gaylord Clayton Talley and Bessie Opal (Hoffman) Talley. Richard was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area, where he graduated from Des Moines Tech High School in 1951. Richard married his loving wife of 65 years, Arlene Carlson on November 30, 1956. He was a very proud Marine Veteran. Always punctual and hard-working. Richard was extremely dedicated to his faith and attended Altoona Regular Baptist Church. He loved to be involved anyway he could. Richard had a passion for collecting coins, and was even a member of the Des Moines Coin Club.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Arlene Talley; children and their spouses: Kevin Talley (Robin), and Kendra Buchanan; grandchildren and their spouses: Nathaniel Buchanan, Kyle Talley (Macey), Michael Buchanan, and Caleb Talley (Chloe); great-grandchildren: Abrielle, Brayden, Lucas, and Eliana; sister: Beverly Poore, and special family friend: Ashley Zimpfer. He is preceded in death by his parents: Gaylord Clayton and Bessie Opal Talley, and siblings: LaVonne Erwin, Edwin Talley, Cleo Judson, Shirley Peterson, Robert Talley, and Mary Edwards.
Services and Visitation will both be held at Altoona Regular Baptist Church, 808 3rd Ave. SW, Altoona, Iowa. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 and Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. the evening prior on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to Grandview Christian School.

Arlene and family: Just went online and see that Dick had passed away, I am very sorry for your loss. I will keep you in my prayers. My Bud passed away May 25, 2021.

I was fortunate enough to meet and become friends with Dick and Arlene in the last couple of years, and found them both to be very special people. His family is in my thoughts and prayers as they go through this very difficult time in their lives.
