Thelma "Connie" Constance Stevens

Connie Stevens, age 98, passed away peacefully under the care of Suncrest Hospice on Friday, April 15, 2022 with her family by her side.

Connie was born August 31, 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa to Trigva Lars Wathne and Karen (Rosavick) Wathne. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. She married Charles Arnold Stevens. She was employed in the Patient Accounts Department for Iowa Lutheran Hospital during her working years. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening, and ceramics.

She is survived by her son, Jim Stevens; daughter-in-law, Shelia Stevens; grandchildren, Alisa Stevens, Amber (Michael) McCord, Nicole Churchill, Shannon (Matt) Melcher, Lacey (David) Skalicky, and Michael (Suzie) Stevens; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jesse, Adrian, and Tyler; and many extended family and friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Ron Stevens; daughter-in-law, Connie Stevens; and her siblings, Ann, Jack, and Betty.

There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Glendale Cemetery. Flowers would be appreciated.
