Stanford (Stan) Spencer, 86, of Des Moines, passed away April 8, 2022, at Sunny View Care Center, Ankeny. Per his wishes, cremation has occurred and there will be no services.
Stan was born March 10, 1936, to Bryce and Freeda (Taylor) Spencer of Afton, Ia. He attended school in Afton.
December 13, 1965, he and Emily Broeker were married and in 1967 they moved into their current home in Des Moines where Stan started his own business, Esquire Motors. In 1985, he purchased a bar in Des Moines (Stan’s Place) which he operated for 33 years until retirement in 2018.
Stan was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and NASCAR racing. He also enjoyed playing pool, when he won.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emily; daughter Lynn (Mike) Wheeler of CA; grandson Mickenzie of MI; sister-in-law Gretchen Spencer; nephew Bryce Spencer; niece Renee Stewart and her two sons, Travis and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother R.B. Spencer.

Its been many years since seeing you both, but I have fond memories
of both of you and your families from our days in Afton.
