Richard Reed

Richard Reed, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Richard was born August 2, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa. to William and Anola Reed. He married Patricia Walker on April 27, 1948.

Richard was employed by his family business, Reed’s Ice Cream and later employed by the State of Iowa. His hobbies included gardening, spending time with family and watching his grand-dogs.

Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughters Sally (Johnnie) Donison of Tucson, Arizona, and Jody (Scott) Sankey of Ankeny, Iowa; four grandchildren, Nathan Donison, Chelsea Donison, Megan (Rockford) Anderson, Lt. Jonathan (Mary) Sankey USAF, and one great grandchild, Annabelle Anderson; two nephews and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009. Funeral Services will held at 2:30 p.m., on Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
