Robert Harry Peterson, 67, passed away on April 4, 2022. He was born May 11, 1954, in Boone, Iowa to Welden and Dorothy Peterson.

Bob graduated from Iowa Falls High School, where he played football. He then attended UNI, earning his bachelor’s degree in social work. Bob spent his career as a social worker for the State of Iowa. Throughout his years of working with troubled youth, he had a tremendous impact on many of their lives as they transitioned to living on their own.

Bob was a true gentleman with a kind soul. He was a coin collector, and never passed by a penny. Bob loved playing golf and volleyball in his younger years. As he got older, that transitioned to westerns, Jeopardy, and The Young and the Restless. He was a Civil War and history buff, and enjoyed reading.

Bob loved to travel, exploring 47 of the 50 states with his family. He especially enjoyed Colorado, South Dakota, and Florida. Bob also liked to make special secret trips to the gas station for snacks with his kids. He also had a knack for making amazing home cooked meals. Bob was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco Giants.

Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy; children, Nathan, Kelly, and Laura Peterson; grandogs; Pablo, Juice, Charlotte, and Oliver; and grandcats, Zorro and Bernie; siblings; Larita (Mike) Myers; in-laws, Barbara Shea, Betty Shea, Marilyn Music, Patricia (Kevin) Kelley, Geraldine Peters, Julie Shea, and Mary Shea; many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles, brother-in-law, Donald Shea; parents-in-law, Velva and Gerald Shea.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona. The family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 p.m.
