Kathleen Sandstrom

Kathleen Sandstrom, age 46, passed away at home of natural causes on April 3, 2022. She was born in Des Moines on November 10, 1975, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Hughes) Hanson.
She graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, and had an associate’s degree in nursing. Kathleen worked for 20 years at Wells Fargo and more recently at South Atlantic Financial.
Her hobbies included Amazon shopping, diamond art painting, traveling, baking, but most of all, having her family over for the holidays and other occasions.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, Chris, her children, Nathaniel Sandstrom, Kezia Williams, William Sandstrom, Sydney Hanson, and Grace Sandstrom. Her mother, Mary Hanson, and her brother, Rob Hanson. She was a loving grandmother to: CJ and Ben Grulke, Breilyn Sandstrom, Cooper Willis, Ryley and Noelle Hanson, Jackob and Evelyn Williams.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hanson.
The family will greet visitors from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, where there will be a time of sharing at 5:00 p.m.

My thoughts and prayers are with your whole family. Im so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Kathy for a while. We went through some tough times together. She was extraordinarily kind to me. I will never forget her. She talked about her family all the time, especially Grace.

Chris. I know for a fact through the conversations we had out West that you loved your wife more then life itself. You always said she was everything to you. You should find comfort that God will now watch over her until you two are reunited someday! Our prayers are with you for peace and strength brother.
