I met Jim at Link Associates when I was Erics service coordinator. He was thoughtful, generous and always had time to talk with me. I admire his dedication not only to his family but also to the people Link assists. It was an honor to know him.

Jim was a great mentor and wonderful friend at Allied Insurance! He had a quick wit, and we (the Crosser, Curran, Critelli team) learned much from him!

I am so very sorry to hear of Jamies passing. It was my privilege to work with Jamie when I first started my career at Allied on the actuarial team. Jamie was a man of integrity with a dry sense of humor and so kind. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in the days to come. God bless you all.

Dear Jovce and family,
I am saddened by Jim's passing. He was a wonderful, caring, giving soul. His love for family and his fellow man was inspirational. The generosity that the two of you showed the youth of the North High community has given many a graeter opportunity for achievement. I feel blessed to have had the pleasure knowing this special man.

Dearest Joyce, John, Eric, Richard, Mary, and family:
It is so difficult to express both in person and in writing, the extreme loss that we all feel regarding the passing of one of our dearest and closest friends, Jamie Shaffer. Although our friendship together only began in 10th grade at dear old North high school, we both feel like weve been with you since day one in this lifes journey. My, my, my, we have had some marvelous times and certainly some challenges in our lives together. You have been a wonderful and inspirational couple to many as well as wonderful parents to John and Eric. To say that Jim love you beyond measure, would be an understatement. Jims service to our country as young Lieutenant platoon leader in Vietnam was remarkable and noteworthy. Jim was an exceedingly bright fun loving and a devoted family man who cherished his relationships with others and those he met along his journey in life. Everyone loved to be around Jamie. Our last trip in February to your beautiful home in Kauai was marvelous. Jim and I talked and laughed out loud until tears came to our eyes on our hikes and walks each day. He loved each of you so very much. As a couple and a family, you are most beloved by all. As you know, our thoughts and prayers will be with you and your entire family forever. One thing for certain, Jim is no longer suffering and is now in heaven smiling down upon us.

Joyce,Eric &John,
How to say this-I have so much sorrow and love for you all. This last week, or month has been so difficult, my concern has been overwhelming on how to reach out and help. Now I need to offer love and support to all of you and say a few things from my heart. I have a lifetime of memories going back to early childhood, a trip to Atlanta,, a reel to reel tape played at grandparents house at Christmas on York street, from Vietnam. The many trips to Harlan to Great Grandpa Knutson for family reunions and the lake home in Missouri.Moms stories of your double dates with dad & mom, their cats growing up, which ones were Jamies and ice skating at Birdland when they were children. All the babysitting, the slideshow you shared of your safari. Then all you have done for the students at North High, such a gift, a pay it forward. Jamie looks so much like grandma and was so kind and giving, to his family, his sons and especially to his beloved wife, my dear Aunt Joyce. This loss is enormous, especially to you and the boys and I wish in my heart I could somehow help, I will always remember him as a hero, someone who would do anything to help anyone. Who loved you all deeply.Sincerely Tammy

Jim has been the most amazing supporter to every aspect of LInk Associates. He served tirelessly on our board of directors and our Foundation Board. He and his wife were incredibly generous with their financial support and definitely made the move to our new building possible. But never once did Jim fail to have encouragement, enthusiasm, wisdom, guidence and support. The face of Link is permanently shaped by his dedication. I am a better person and leader because of Jim and we are all forever in his debt. From all of us thank you and our love is with you. Linda Dunshee, Executive Director, Board, Foundation, staff and all served by Link Associates.

Joyce,
I wish there were a magic phrase or a magic pill to take away the pain that you feel. And I know that feeling all too well. I have agonized over what I could say or what I could do, and the truth of the matter is I found that words are just words. They must be written from the heart and order to have any bearing on the meaning of them. What I can tell you and what I can promise you is it no matter what you're feeling, if you ever need to talk, vent, or just release any emotion; I will be there. I will listen ever so intently unless you ask I won't offer advice or feeling. Because sometimes we just need that one person they can take the load for a little while and I will be that person for you!
This time I remember being told that only someone that has experienced it can understand. In a way it's true, but another way your solace can be in your sons for up your arms around them and hold them because they will always hold you up! My dear lady I love you I have always loved you and I will always pray that God hold you tight in His arms!♥💗🙏
My little family loves you and God loves you! We are our eyes are finite and God's are infinite!
