Marguerite Ellen Gross
March 24, 2022
Marguerite Ellen Gross, 94, took the hand of God on March 24, 2022 and was led to the arms of her loving family who preceded her. Services will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with the service at 12:00 p.m. and the visitation prior from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Marguerite will be laid to rest with her husband, Harold at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Marguerite was born on November 2, 1927 to Anna Belle (Shelton) and Henry Terrell. She graduated from East High School and was a member of the Chorus and the Glee Club. Marguerite was a strong-willed woman with a child-like sweetness. She had a love for music and song and was a talented pianist. She enjoyed sharing her musical talent with family and friends. In addition, Marguerite was famous for her delectable apple pies. In recent years she left the pie baking to Village Inn where she relished their French Silk pie. In their earlier years, Harold and Marguerite enjoyed weekend trips and usually headed west with Colorado being a favorite destination. But would frequently take off just to see where the wind would blow them. Marguerite loved holidays, especially the Christmas holiday season, and spending time with her treasured family.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Norman (Gerda) Gross, Janeen (Sheldon) Woodson, Joann (Terry) Edwards, Dan Gross, and Paul (Bobbie) Gross; grandchildren, Jennifer (Lucas) Hernandez, Kenneth (Tiffany) Gross, and Michelle Gadbury; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Joselyn, Lucas and Nicholas Hernandez, Tinley Gross, Matthew Gadbury, Devonte Veasley, and Itayzia Houston; great-great-granddaughter, Jhene Veasley; her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gross, Carol Terrell, Gloria Terrell and Kathleen Terrell; and a host of other beloved family members.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Harold Gross; grandson, Jason Veasley; siblings, Leslie (Julia) Terrell, Henry Terrell, Jr., Kenneth Terrell, Jack Terrell, Ruth (Lester) Morris; parents-in-law, Lydia Gretchen (Foster) and Harry Otis Gross; and sister-in-law, Mary Broadus.

My relationship with my sweet aunt was a very fine and special one.
I have so many treasured memories of her which are a part of who I am. Being a part of the Terrell family is one of the greatest gifts of my life and certainly that special love and kindness within the family shone through her.
She had a deep appreciation for the love of flowers and the beauty of nature, in general. We both shared a love of the color lavender and for the gift of music, just two of the many artistic things which united us.
She will be greatly missed, but surely does live in our hearts and minds eternally.
