Matthew W. Eldridge

Matthew Whitlock Eldridge, a resident of Waukee, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at the age of 52.

Matt was born in Seoul, Korea on July 16, 1969 and was raised in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Wheaton Central in 1988. He attended the University of Arizona and Iowa State University. Matt was a self- employed insurance broker. He was active in coaching his son’s Waukee youth football team and was instrumental in his son’s baseball activities. His smile was infectious, and he loved his wife and children more than anything else. He loved attending all the activities of both his children and took great pride in all that they accomplished.

He is survived by his wife Kim and his children, Carter and Kaitlyn; his brothers, Mike Eldridge (Erin) and Tommy Eldridge; sister, Jennifer Eldridge; stepbrothers, Chris (Meghan) Peters and Tom Peters; father and mother-in-law, Gary and Cindy Cheney; brothers-in-law, Lance (Lisa) Cheney, Chad (Andrea) Cheney; stepmother, Karen Peters; mother, Gail Carline; numerous nephews and nieces; and many close friends, and of course Buddy, his beloved schnauzer.

Matt was preceded in death by his father, George Eldridge, stepfather, Dick Carline, and grandmother, Rose Gauthier.

Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30 at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Pkwy also in West Des Moines. The service will be livestreamed from https://hopeonline.tv/specialevents. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel.
