Louise "Lou" Kasperbauer

Louise Kay Kasperbauer, age 72, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022 at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill.
Lou was born September 10, 1949 in Hampton, Iowa to Lemuel and Lois Schulz. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1967. After graduation, Lou moved to the Des Moines area and worked in office work. She later moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to study computer operations. Lou worked for Great Plains Bag Corp, later known as Stone Container in Des Moines. In 1974, she met Lonnie Kasperbauer at Stone Container. They were united in marriage on February 29, 1980 in Des Moines, Iowa. Lou retired from Stone Container in 2000. She then worked at A.D.P. in West Des Moines until 2005.
Lou enjoyed arts and crafts, and holiday crafts were her favorites. She gifted many of her crafts to family and friends. She had a keen eye for the little details. She and Lonnie enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and bowling in their bowling league. Despite Lou’s MS diagnosis, she never complained about anything. She was always strong, uplifting, and fun to be with. Lou always loved playing cards with family and friends.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents Lemuel and Lois Schulz, brothers Jerry Schulz, Paul Schulz and Danny Schulz, sister-in-law Dorothy Schulz, brother-in-law Mike Kasperbauer, sister-in-law Marian Fitzsimmons, sister-in-law Patty Kasperbauer, brother-in-law Jim Kasperbauer, brother-in-law Jerry Kasperbauer, and brother-in-law Pat Kasperbauer.
She is survived by her husband Lonnie Kasperbauer, step-daughter Keslie (Ed) Werner, step-granddaughter Ashley Werner, step-son Travis Kasperbauer, sister-in-law Linda Schulz (Danny’s wife), sister-in-law Linda Schulz (Paul’s wife), sister-in-law Isabel Kasperbauer, brother-in-law Fred Fitzsimmons, brother-in-law Larry (Carmen) Kasperbauer, sister-in-law Marge Kasperbauer, sister-in-law Norma Kasperbauer, sister-in-law Kathy Kasperbauer, sister-in-law Linda Johanson, and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel. There will be a luncheon at American Legion Post 403, 910 Main Street, Van Meter, after the burial.

The love and devotion you & Aunt Lou shared was apparent to all of us who saw yall together. Aunt Lou always seemed to have a smile and a kind word. She is loved and will be missed. We pray you find solace, strength & comfort as you face difficult days.

Louise is a strong name. My grandmother's name as well.
May your family get comfort knowing that you will see her on the other side. For it is giving that we receive, and dying that we are reborn.
