Judy D’Alessandro, 68, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in West Des Moines. She was born on October 27, 1941 in Des Moines to Morna and Charles Riley.

Judy enjoyed music, her dog, Buddy, and going to garage sales. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Tracy Rockas (John), Toby D’Alessandro (David Bell), her son, Michael; six grandsons; one great-granddaughter; ten sisters; and five brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one sister.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Burial of cremated remains will take place at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Pine Hill Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be from time 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa Veterans Hospital in loving memory of Judy.

Toby, Tracy, and Michael,

I am so very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was a wonderful person with a big heart. I have several happy memories of the times that I spent with her. Every now and then, something will spark one of these memories, always bringing a smile or a giggle. I thought of her several days ago, before I heard the sad news. I was making grilled cheese sandwiches for the boys which brought one of those memories to mind. One of you had told me a story about your mom's grilled cheese sandwiches. Judy is one of those people that touched my life and I will never forget her. She was always so kind and made me feel welcome no matter what.

I know this has to be very difficult for all of you. Each of you had a very special relationship with your mom. She was a very special lady. Remember that although she is not here physically, she is forever in your heart. She loved you so much. Her smile and laugh will always be just a memory away.

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care of each other. If you need to talk, I'm here.
