Katie Widman

Katie Loreen Widman, age 64, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at her home in Pleasantville.

Katie was born December 1, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri to Dale and Betty (Hanson) Yeager.

She loved family time, riding with her 515 Family, picnics in the park, laughing, loving, and taking care of everyone. She was a free spirit and wanted everyone to be. Her moto was “To be and let be”. She loved baking candies with her kids. Katie liked to speak her mind and was a fireball, just like her favorite drink.

She is survived by her children, Rebecca Swearingen (Council Bluffs), Samantha Osborn (Des Moines), Ralph Widman Jr. and Susan Johnson (Council Bluffs), Frances Kelley and Cat Kelley (Lacona), Ashley Pira and Shaun (Murrieta, CA), Betty Waters and Josh (Des Moines), and Dale Widman and Courtney (Indianola); 18 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, plus bonus grandkids; her mother, Betty Yeager; siblings, Dale Yaw, Roy Yeager, Dennis Keith Yeager, Alberta Alexander, and JoDee Lemerand; best friend and companion, Randy Wignall; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Katie was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Ralph Edward Widman, Sr.; father, Dale Yeager; and sister, Lisa Ercanbrack.

Cremation will occur and there will be no formal service held at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
