Joshua William Bronsink
March 11, 2022
Joshua William Bronsink of Des Moines passed away Friday, March 11, 2022 following a brief illness with COVID. He was 48 years old.
Josh was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on March 5, 1974, to loving parents Leonard and Linda (Robertson) Bronsink. The oldest of seven children, Josh was the natural caretaker and leader of his beloved siblings, always looking out for them.
A graduate of Perry High School, Josh then graduated from University of Northern Iowa in 1997 with a degree in Political Science. As someone with a servant’s heart and a strategic mind, he built a career of public service, working for organizations that helped make life better for everyday Iowans. Most of his career was spent working for the Iowa Senate, helping to craft policy and serve Iowans through legislation to do with Human Services. But it was outside his work life that Josh truly made the biggest impact. In addition to his family leadership as the oldest brother, Josh built a family he treasured. On September 21, 2002, he married the love of his life, Kelly (Wacht) Bronsink at a ceremony in Des Moines. His caring heart and loving spirit live on in his two beloved children, Samuel and Audrey Bronsink. He loved them with all his heart, and his pride in their accomplishments – from martial arts and Scouts to academics and dance – was apparent in any conversation you had with him.
Josh was a man of faith, and he lived his life with quiet conviction and fervent hope for better things to come. He was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Left behind to lovingly remember his life and mourn his loss are his wife, Kelly (Wacht) Bronsink; son, Samuel; daughter, Audrey; parents, Leonard and Linda (Robertson) Bronsink; siblings, Joel Bronsink, Anna (Jeff) Watson, Ben Bronsink, Doug (Jessi) Bronsink, Karen Bronsink, and Dustin (Vada) Bronsink; nephews, Owen and Leo and niece, Harper Bronsink; extended family: in-laws, Les and Deloris Wacht, sister-in-law, Keri Wacht and his niece, Ava Wright; and many, many family members, friends and colleagues who will miss his caring heart and loving spirit.
There will a celebration of life at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4114 Allison Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50310, with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church. For those who cannot attend in person, Josh's funeral service may be watched through this link: Westminster Presbyterian Church Livestream.
