Service Details

Bobbie Jo Palmer age 50, was born on March 17, 1971 in Des Moines, Iowa. Bobbie passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side, on March 12, 2022 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Bobbie grew up in Des Moines. However, in the last 10-15 years she spent most of her time living in Osceola. She was last employed at Osceola Foods before her courageous battle with cancer began in 2020.

Bobbie never knew a stranger and would always make you feel welcome. Everyone that knew her, knew how big her heart was. She would try to help anyone whenever and however she could. Bobbie always showed up when it mattered, had your back, gave to those in need and would stand up for her loved ones should the need arise. She kept those she loved safe.

Bobbie loved animals of all kinds, most importantly, her two dogs, Princessa and Bentley. Bobbie enjoyed the outdoors and all outdoor activities such as kayaking, canoeing, camping, bonfires and especially activities that involved family get-togethers and lots of laughs.

Bobbie is survived by her mom, Nora Watkins; grandma, Madelane Raymond; siblings, Melissa Newell, Donnie Riedel-Brown (Tim), Sonja Brammer, Bobby Palmer II (Lesli), Tasha Palmer, Jennifer Saffell (Matt); nieces and nephews, Megan Newell, Allie Harris, Olivia Newell, Dustie Brown, Bodie Brown, Devin Wills, Colton Wills, Sierra Palmer, Sydney Palmer, Denver Jackson, Duncan Jackson, Mason Jackson, Evan Jackson, Chance Saffell, Jamison Saffell, Cassidy Saffell, Janelle Saffell; great nephew, Bentley Wills; as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her grandparents, William Raymond Sr., Alice and Lowell Weber, Merlin and Edna Palmer; as well as her father, Robert Palmer Jr.; step-father, Dale Jackson; and nephew, Jacob Saffell.

Celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday June 4, 2022 at the Salvation Army Temple, 1326 6th Ave., Des Moines. Please park in the parking lot right on the corner of Sixth & Forest and come in the door facing Forest-side with all the windows.

Bobbie's ashes will be spread on a beach in Florida by members of her family, per her request. Her smile and never-ending love for her family and friends will be sorely missed and never forgotten. She loved fiercely and deeply and we take comfort in knowing that Bobbie is now at peace.

Memorial contributions can be made to her family in lieu of flowers to help with her celebration of life and other unexpected expenses. Or donate to Rescue Rehab and Rehome animal rescue in Bobbie's memory.

Your Spirit

We know that no matter what
You will always be with us.
When life separates us
We’ll know it is only your soul
Saying goodbye to your body
But your spirit will be with us always.
When we see a bird chirping on a nearby branch
We will know it is you singing to us.
When a butterfly brushes gently by us so care freely
We will know it is you assuring us you are free from pain.
When the gentle fragrance of a flower catches our attention
We will know it is you reminding us
To appreciate the simple things in life.
When the sun shining through our window awakens us
We will feel the warmth of your love.
When we hear the rain pitter patter against our window sill
We will hear your words of wisdom
And will remember what you taught us so well’
That without rain trees cannot grow
Without rain flowers cannot bloom
Without life’s challenges we cannot grow strong.
When we look out to the sea
We will think of your endless love for your family.
When we think of mountains, their majesty and magnificence
We will think of your courage.
No matter where we are
Your spirit will be beside us
For we know that no matter what
You will always be with us.
