Sherralyn Howard

Sherralyn Lea Howard (Sease) was born on October 7th, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2022. She was the daughter of Lewismilo Weaver Sease and Betty Ruth Sease (Stearns). Sherry was raised in Des Moines and graduated from Tech High School in 1963. On October 12, 1963 she married the love of her life Richard at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Des Moines.

She had two daughters, Alicia and Kelli. She and Richard moved to the southside of Des Moines to raise their family. Sherry also had a long and rewarding career in the insurance industry. Sherry was a natural leader and worked as a supervisor for many years first at Principal and then EMC Insurance Company.

Sherry found her greatest joy in her family. She could always be counted on to host birthday parties and holiday celebrations. She loved to cook and especially loved baking. She was also a talented quilter and created several beautiful quilts for her family to cherish in her memory. She enjoyed being a grandmother and was deeply involved in the lives of her five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard this past August, her parents, her brother Mark (Henrietta) Sease and her sister Ellen (Tom) Goff. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Alicia Oxford and Kelli Howard, five grandchildren Zachary (Cherann) Foltz, Michelle (Ethan) Wilder, Alexis (KC) McKinney, Noah Foltz and Ricky Oxford and a great-granddaughter Ballad McKinney.

A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held on Thursday, March 24 at the Hamilton’s Funeral Home on Lyon St. Visitation will begin at 10AM and the funeral will begin at 11AM. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines.
