David W. Newton

David Newton, 62, passed away March 7, 2022 at his home.

David was born November 15, 1959 in Landstaul Germany to Carl and Catherine (Rhoads) Newton. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Penn State University. David enlisted in the US Army on June 15, 1977 and was honorably discharged on November 5, 1987. He was a long haul truck driver for many years. David enjoyed camping, swimming and hiking.

David is survived by his son, Joshua (Brandi) Ritter; sisters, Linda (Thomas) Orlando and Kathleen (Thomas) Minger; and his brother, Carl (Kandi) Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Timothy Newton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Celebration Church, 6204 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. David will be laid to rest with military honors Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
