Madge E. Foster

Madge Evelyn (Petty) Foster, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at her home in Des Moines.

Madge was born August 15, 1927 in Corydon, Iowa to Melvin D. and Cecil R. (Sowder) Petty. She married the love of her life, John A. Foster, on April 18, 1948. They had four children – Sherry Ramirez, Ricky Foster, Shelly (Dave) Peery, and Toni (Paul) Branchcomb. John preceded her in death at the age of 48, and their son, Ricky, preceded both of them at the age of 13 months. She has nine grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her hard work, her loving ways, her kind heart, and her quick wit. She was loved by so many family and friends.

Services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Chariton Cemetery, 901 Main Street, Chariton.
