Kurt Terrell
March 07, 2022
Kurt Leonard Terrell, passed away on March 7, at the age of 74. Kurt was born July 28, 1947, in Des Moines to Carolyn and Donald Terrell, the oldest of four children, Kurt, Jerry, Jeff, and Kim.
Kurt and Bev met and started dating in the fall of 1964 and were married June 19, 1966. In October of 1966, Kurt was drafted into the United States Army where he was stationed in Killeen, Texas and Ft. Greely, Alaska until 1968 when he received an honorable discharge.
Kurt and Bev moved to Ankeny in 1972 where they bought a duplex on Magazine Road. His daughter Linsey was born in September of 1978. Kurt loved starting his daughter Linsey in riding 4 wheelers and finally racing go carts, where he met a lot of very special people. Special thanks to Scott Walker and Tom Waller for all their help. In 1983, they purchased an acreage in Bondurant and tried farming, buying baby calves in the spring of each year and selling in the fall. Kurt and Bev loved to go gambling and site seeing in Vegas with Dave and Janice Queener. He enjoyed family get-togethers, playing cards, and sharing jokes.
Kurt worked as a union truck driver, retiring in 2005. He loved watching NFL and cheering on his Pittsburgh Steelers. Kurt was an avid Sprint Car and racing fan and loved to go every Saturday night and sit in the Casey’s suite. A special thanks to Don Lamberti and lifetime friends, Bob and Janice Myers.
Thank you to our special neighbors and friends Mark and Tim for always being available to help no matter the time. It is greatly appreciated.
Kurt is survived by his wife, Beverly Terrell; daughter, Linsey Terrell (Sandra Holman); brothers, (Jerry (Debbie) Terrell and Jeff Terrell; sisters, Kim (Jeff) Peterson and Jeri (Mike) Norvel; aunt, Delores Porter; other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn; his father, Donald Terrell; and Rottweiler, Lexus.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Aunt Bev and Linsey, so sorry to hear about Uncle Kurt. I will always remember all the good times we had and his love for all of his family. He was so proud of Linsey and her go-kart racing accomplishments. I will remember going to Saylorville on the pontoon, watching him playing solitaire, and talking about deer hunting. He will be deeply missed.
