Russell Madison, 66, passed away on February 25, 2022, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on January 11, 1956, to Richard and Elvida Madison.

Russell was a Supervisor of Distribution Operations at the main post office on 2nd Ave for 33 years. While employed he went to DMACC and obtained his LPN certificate in 1993. He retired from the post office in 2008. After retirement he worked at a few in-home care households and enjoyed the relationships with the many families he worked for.

Russell enjoyed watching the TV show Frasier with his wife Vicki and having many meaningful conversations with her. Russell participated in the Good Guys Car Show yearly and attended the Iowa State Fair with family each summer. He loved working on his ’57 Chevy Bel Air with his son Russell and son-in-law Zach. He loved gardening, sitting outside drinking coffee and watching the hummingbirds, Sci-Fi movies, Harry Potter, and working on the house. Russell was a fan of giving everyone a hard time and random drop-ins to visit family. His sisters, Pat and Lucretia always held a special place in his heart and he loved them deeply. Above all, he dearly loved his wife of 42 years, and adored his family, grandchildren, and his dog, Daisy. He was a great man who was full of love.

Russell is survived by his wife, Vicki; two daughters, Holly (Joe) Lauters and Stacey (Zach) McLaughlin; son, Russell (Yesica) Madison, Jr.; grandchildren, Emily, Abby, and Joey Lauters, Scarlett McLaughlin, and Gianni and Lainy Madison; sisters, Pat Wadle and Lucretia Jeffrey.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m., on Thursday also at the funeral home.
