Donald Richard Craft

Donald Richard Craft, 91, passed away on February 27, 2022 at Calvin Community in Des Moines, IA.

Don was born on October 21, 1930 in Osceola, IA to Paul Arbor Craft and Ethel Mae Ferguson Craft. Don also lived in Pleasantville before moving to Indianola where he graduated from high school in 1948. He attended Simpson College where he met the love of his life, Mary Darlene Bonnett. They were married on January 13, 1950 at the Methodist Church in Bussey, IA. Don lived all of his adult life in Des Moines.

He was employed by Hi-Lan Diary and Corwin Cleaners before working for the United States Post Office as a letter carrier for 33 years. In his spare time, Don coached Little League for many years and was a Cub Scout leader. He also loved watching sports on television. After retiring, he and Mary enjoyed spending winters in the Phoenix area, going to the Des Moines Farmer’s Market every Saturday, shopping at estate and garage sales, and attending First Christian Church (now New Beginnings Christian Church) every Sunday.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and three sons. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Cindy; sons, Paul and Jeff (Cathy); grandson, Kyle Craft; great-granddaughter, Addley Craft; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. Family will greet friends following the service. Don will be laid to rest in a private service at Pleasantville Cemetery in Pleasantville, Iowa
