Glen, age 81, passed away on Sunday, February 27th at his home in Des Moines.

Glen was born in 1940 in Des Moines, IA to Forest Sr. and Esther (Lloyd) Penenger. He grew up in the 4-mile creek area as a very proud Eastsider. Glen graduated from East High School where he was known for running track. He attended Drake University for one year.

He was a 60-year member of Operating Plasterers and Cement Masons Local 21 where he worked as a Cement Mason for various construction companies in Des Moines and around central Iowa. Glen retired after 40 years.

He loved being with his family and enjoyed fishing, building things, tinkering with cars and tools, and was good at cooking on the grill. He was quick to respond if any of his family members needed help with car repairs, construction projects, or just some good sound advice.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sharon Penenger; sons Brian (Michelle) of Perry, IA; Scott of Des Moines, IA; his grandchildren, Tyler of Perry, IA; Alexes of Des Moines, IA; Lauren of Ankeny, IA; Breanna of Ames, IA; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Forest Sr. and Esther, and his brothers, Earl and Denny.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., where visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial will take place following the service at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
