Dorothy Mae Thomas

Dorothy M. Thomas, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2022. She was born in Grinnell, Iowa, on December 3, 1929, the daughter of Charles and Flonnie Thomas.

Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper over the years and retired from Wells Fargo in 1986. She was a past member of Rising Sun Church of Christ and enjoyed volunteering with chapel services at Mill Pond.

Dorothy loved the outdoors, spending time in nature, and birds. She also enjoyed walking, bowling, traveling, and family gatherings, especially the many 4th of July celebrations. Dorothy greatest joy came from spending time with loved ones as well as supporting her nieces and nephews in their various sporting events and activities.

Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her sister, Lillian Leadman; nephew, Robert J. See; niece, Crystal See; great-great-niece, Shania Martin; as well as other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, nephew, Robert W. See, and great-nephew, John W. See.

A celebration of life will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona.
