Butch Riley

“Butch” Robert Keith Riley, age 65, passed away at home on Saturday, February 12, 2022 after a brief and courageous battle with stage 4 cancer.

Butch was born October 18, 1956 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Windle and Skip Riley. He was self-employed in the construction field. Family was Butch’s greatest love. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, camping and riding his motorcycle.

He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Melody Riley; his children, Orlando, Michelle (Tyler), Michael (Angelica), Yolanda; bonus children, Missy (Dave), Abby, T.K., Christy; 23 grandchildren: Scott (Brittany), Damien, Caleb, Cara, Antonio (Jay), Caitlin (Matt), Gabe, Ty, Lucy, Para, Liam, Chrissa, Josie, Lex, Olivia, Carlos, Kathy, Marshall, Jasmine, Josephine; one great-grandson, Daniel; sister, Sue (Kent); brothers, Gordon, Ted (Denise), Michael; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sisters, Becky and Tina, and grandson, James.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
