Geraldine Louella Penn, 87, was born March 30, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Orange and Elvia (Louden) Penn. She was blessed to be under care of her eldest granddaughter, Jaime (Damion) Nichols and passed away peacefully at their home on Sunday, February 13, 2022.

Geraldine ran her own in-home daycare center in Kansas City. She moved to Iowa and worked as a CNA at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown for 14 years and treasured her time there. She later moved to Missouri and worked as an in-home health care provider until she retired. Geraldine was a woman of strong faith and loved sharing the word of God with others. She was an ordained minister and volunteered her time as a chaplain at a jail in Kansas City and by leading a bible study group at the women’s prison in Mitchellville. She also enjoyed playing cribbage.

Geraldine is survived by her children, Elvia Miller, Joseph Miller, Jr., Freddie Miller and Joelle Miller; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Beverly Asbell, Shirley Grafe, Gloria Willits, Thomas Penn and Donald Penn; numerous nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and many special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Geraldine Louella Miller, her former husband, Joseph Eugene Miller, Sr., husband, Frank Maneri; grandson, Gerrad Downs; and her siblings, Gertrude Clack, John Penn, Freddie Penn, Orange Alvin Penn, Roger Penn and Dawson Walter Penn.

Cremation has occurred and there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
