Sharon F. Scott

Sharon Fern Scott passed away February 10, 2022 at Accura Healthcare of Pleasantville at the age of 81.

Sharon was born September 24, 1940 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Arthur and Martha Floden. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Gary Dwight Scott on June 14, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa. They had three children, Tammy, Pamela and Larry.

Sharon worked for a commercial bag and supply company, then for The Consignment Shop in Des Moines, then Sharon’s Donut Shop in Des Moines, and finally for HyVee for many years until her retirement in 2010. Sharon enjoyed shopping, gardening, and fishing. She loved baking and making candies that her children remembered growing up.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Mark) Matherly; son, Larry (Susan) Scott; four grandchildren, Brian (Rebecca) Scott, Jessica (J.J.) Blume, Charity Scott, and Larry Scott; eight great-grandchildren, Milo, Chloe, Isabelle, Maverick, Tyler, Izaak, Owen, and JayLynn; brothers, Bob (Joan) Floden and Paul (Bev) Floden; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary Scott; siblings, John Floden, Shirley Boender, Junior Floden, and Betty DenHartog; and her daughter, Pamela Scott.

The family will greet friends on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Sharon will be laid to rest at Lin Grove Cemetery in Norwalk, Iowa.
