John Patrick Nielsen the son of Paul C. and Harriet J.(Knudsen) Nielsen was born on January 3, 1963, in Des Moines Iowa.

John passed away at his home in Des Moines on the 6th of February at the age of 59.

John attended North High School in Des Moines and studied Electronics/Computer Repair at the National Education Center. John began working for Bridgestone/Firestone in 1986 and retired in 2012. John was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 310L.

John enjoyed classic muscle cars, bicycles, and classic rock music. John was a lifetime member of Luther Memorial Church. John had a smile that would light up the room.

John is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his sister Cynthia Carlsen (Randy) of Madrid; two daughters: Sara Nielsen (Kevin Hollingsworth); Lynsi Wilkerson (Blake); one son, Justin Nielsen (Christin); grandchildren: Audrie, Titus, Eva, Lucille, Vivian, Brantley, and Emeri and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:15 a.m. on February 27th at Luther Memorial Church at 1201 Grandview Avenue.

Memorials may be made to Joppa, Central Iowa Shelter & Services, or Luther Memorial Church.
