Service Details

Lloyd Dean Talbert, age 90, went to his everlasting home on Zion’s Hill Friday, February 4, 2022.

Lloyd was born June 1, 1931 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Edward and Sylva (Johnston) Talbert. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time with his family, church family, fishing, boating, his motorhome, camping, anything outdoors. He was, as mom called him, her “Thomas Edison”. He could do anything! His workbench was always in disarray because he had some project he was working on, and customizing or modifying something to make it “better”. Sometimes you would just wonder “What was he thinking?” He had amazing talent that he passed to several of his family members. His quirky sense of humor was enjoyed by everyone even throughout his final days.

Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marilyn Talbert (Grammy); children, Steve (Jeanette) Talbert, Kathy Witt, and Susan (Les) Glover; grandchildren, Tarica (Allen) Wilkins, Christopher (Megan) Talbert, Chris (Chelsea) Glover, and Ben (Gabi) Glover; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Avery, Murphy, Connor, and Owen; sister, Donna Bestland; and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and many special friends. Also left to mourn his loss were his 2 special dogs, Heidi and Benji.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.

Services will be held at Eastside Church of the Nazarene, 1451 East 25th Street, Des Moines on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow. Cremation will take place after services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Gideons International.
