Sheila Wood

Sheila Lea Wood was born in Blue Island, IL and lived out her life in Des Moines, IA with her husband of 20 years. She passed away on February 4, 2022, after an eleven-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis at 52 years old.

Sheila was a hardworking woman who held various jobs over the years. She worked as a waitress, a roofer, at a floral shop, and most recently, at Blank Park Zoo which was her absolute favorite.

Her greatest joy was being a mom and grandma. She enjoyed boating, drag racing, and monster trucks and even had the opportunity to ride in a two-seat dragster. Sheila also loved drinking, barbeques, and spending time with loved ones. Everyone she met adored her and she will be deeply missed.

Sheila is survived by her loving husband, Michael Wood; her children: Cody, Tiffany, Matthew (Rylee), Jessica (Daniel), and Katie (AaRon); grandchildren: Landon, Gabe, Emery, Parker, Isaac, Chloe, Jacob, Skylar, and Bryar; as well as her 3 sisters, 1 brother, and her father. She was preceded in death by Michael Smith.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Scotch Ridge United Presbyterian Church, 13015 Scotch Ridge Road, Carlisle, IA 50047.
