Raymond "Ray" Lee Cox

Ray Cox, age 70, passed away at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston on January 31, 2022. He was born in Des Moines to Bill and Mary (Goode) Cox on August 20, 1951.

Ray was a graduate of Saydel High School. In 1972, he was united in marriage to Katherine Wilson at Indianola United Methodist Church. Together, they made their home in Des Moines and raised three children: Joe, Adam, and Chris.

Ray was a loving, hardworking and loyal man who was always willing to help those in need. He enjoyed fishing, especially with his father, and bowling. Above all else, Ray cherished time spent with his family and friends.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Cox; sons, Joe (Becky) Cox, Adam Cox, and Chris Cox; grandchildren, Abby and Rachel; his mother, Mary Cox; sister, Sharon (Earl) Pothast; brothers, Bob (Cinda) Cox and Roy Cox, as well as other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill.

A celebration of life is yet to be determined. Hamilton’s Funeral Home assisted with a simple cremation per Ray’s request.
