Service Details

Geraldine Ellen Brown Folsom, 89, died of natural causes on Thursday, January 27, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, present and in spirit.

She was born May 4, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended East High School and had a year of formal education. Having lived her entire life in Des Moines, she spent her life caring for many elderly family members, her husband and daughter Lesa, and, of course, raising her children. She worked in many fields throughout her career. She worked for a Vet, was an OB Tech, assisted a dermatologist and psychiatrist, and finished her career working for the Iowa Utilities Board.

Geri also served her community as a member of the American Business Women’s Association and Professional Secretaries. Both organizations benefited its members by further education and raising scholarship funds for youth pursuing further education. She also volunteered for the Planned Parenthood book sale.

Geri very much enjoyed talking politics with her sister Tina, antiquing with her daughter Lesa, painting, quilting, and later learned to golf so she could play with her husband Clyde and friends. One of her favorite things was spending all year gathering items for everyone’s Christmas stockings.

Geri was preceded in death by her mother Lesa Wagner, father Frank Brown, sister Tina Roberts, husband Clyde “Skip” Folsom, Jr., and her child Lesa Folsom. She is survived by her children: daughter Shannon (Gary) Enfield, son Tom Folsom, and daughter Dana (Kendall) Soll. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Mike Folsom, Ian (Monica) Folsom, Mera (Todd) Logsdon, Jessica Wycoff, Kelli Soll, and Jenny (Joe) Miller, as well as great-grandchildren: Jack Miller, and Ava and Ellie Logsdon.

Geri will be missed by family and friends.

Geri will be cremated. She will be inurned at Laurel Hill Cemetery, along with her husband, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022. If you would like to make a contribution in her name, please give to Planned Parenthood, DAV, ARL, Lupus Foundation of America, Lewy Body Dementia Association, or any other charity of your choice.

Reflections from family and friends:
Accepting and loving
A sassy gal who loved to laugh
A wise and strong woman
Seeker in life with a great sense of humor
Held her in high regard
Amazing, a treasure
She was the best of all of us.
