Debra Sue Smith

Debra Sue Smith has passed away on January 20, 2022, at the age of 66. Deb lived most of her life in the Four Mile area on the East side of Des Moines. Deb enjoyed fixing up old toys and the hunt of finding treasures at local thrift stores.

Deb was an in-home caregiver to many of the children in our family and the families of close friends. She was a Mom to many of us through the years.

Deb enjoyed cooking and shared her secret recipes with only one person.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents Donald Eugene and Lois Joy Smith, and a sister Karla Kay Bagley.

She leaves behind a sister Donna O’Neill, a brother Daniel (Cynthia Scott) Smith, and a sister Denise Augustine. Nieces and nephews include: Christopher (Melissa) Carson of Des Moines, Angela (Raymond) Jackson of Des Moines, April (Cory) Charbonneau of Oskaloosa, Pamela (Brian) Carpe of Urbandale, Rachel Augustine of Des Moines, Kevin Edwards of Des Moines and Mark (Teresa) Edwards of Des Moines as well as their children and families.

There are no services planned at this time. Deb has chosen to be cremated and will be laid to rest at Pine Hill Cemetery at a later date. Deb believed in giving to those that are less fortunate. If you would like to honor Deb please make a donation to Toys for Tots or a local children’s charity.
