Warren Houseman

Warren W. Houseman, 77, died October 21, 2009. Memorial visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009, at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home.

Warren was born August 5, 1932 to Mabel (Berry) and Walter Houseman in Des Moines. In his youth, Warren enjoyed his pickup truck with chrome pipes and drag racing on the southside. He and Shirley loved his horses, ponies, showing horses, camping and trail riding at Stephens Forest for over 30 years. He also enjoyed wood working, tinkering in his garage, watching wrestling and football on T.V. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served as a platoon leader in Korea.

Warren worked at Iowa Pipe and Tile Yard, Super Value and was a semi truck driver for over 35 years.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of 53 years; children, Phillip (Joanne) Ballard of Pueblo West, CO, Betty Snyder of Murray, IA, Corina (Joe) Ernst of Lacona, IA; sisters, Doris & Ralph Newman, Joy Ann & George Gale, Jeanie Hartzer, Wanda Mc Elderry, Janet & Tony Bass all of Des Moines, IA; special niece, Joyce & Wayne Cole of Gold Canyon, AZ; grandchildren, Gerald (Patti), Jason, Alvan, David, Edwin (Becky), Travis; great grandchildren, Warren, Kate, Samantha, Levi, Mark, Dillion and many nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers & sister; George DuBois, Robert DuBois, Esther Myers, Bill Houseman; and son-in-law, Gerald Snyder.
