Jim was born on February 7, 1945, to Darl Smith Sr. and Evelyn (Piper) Smith.

Survivors include Jim’s wife of 17 years, Becky; sons, Ted (Joy) Smith and Larry (Carey) Smith; step-son from a previous marriage with Carolyn Reeves, Ted (Annette) Reeves; step-sons, Bill, Jason, and Josh Neifert; his very best friend, Gary Trapp, and his loveable dog, Phreya. He is also survived by numerous grandkids, cousins, family members, and of course his wonderful friends from barbering.

Jim and I were classmates starting in Kindergarten through East High. I had the pleasure of visiting with him at our 50th Class Reunion and I realized Jim was unique; a very happy, contented man. My condolences to his family.

I knew James as a customer at the Dollar General. We struck up our first conversation the day he came in with his Trump hat on. I enjoyed our conversations and I am so very sorry that he passed away. He was a good guy and my deepest sympathy for the family.

I am so sorry to hear the news of my Cousin Jim's passing. I have fond memories of us when we were younger and even going to the races with you many years past. Jim was a kind sole and even helped out my parents on one of their many adventures, I thank you for that. You look so much like your mama in this picture. RIP Jim you will be missed. My condolences to Becky and family.
